1. Overview
YoLingo ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the YoLingo Service, how we use it, and the choices you have. "Personal data" means information that identifies you or can be linked to you.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you sign in with your email address, we store that email address on our servers to identify your account. Your email address is the only personal identifier we require.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we may automatically collect limited technical information such as your IP address and browser type, and basic usage data (for example, which lessons you complete), to operate and improve the Service.
Payment information
We do not collect or store your card details. All payments are processed by our payment provider, Paddle, which collects the information needed to complete the transaction (such as your payment method, billing address, and purchase history). Paddle's use of your data is governed by Paddle's own privacy policy.
Cookies and local storage
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage features to keep the Service working:
- Affiliate referral cookie (
yolingo_ref) - set for 30 days when you arrive via an affiliate link, so we can credit the partner who referred you. It contains only a partner reference code, not your identity. - Local learning progress - stored in your browser so your progress can be restored on your device.
- Advertising cookies - we display ads through Google AdSense. Where permitted by law and your consent, Google may use cookies to serve ads that are more relevant to you (personalized ads). Where consent is required and has not been provided (for example, in the EEA and the UK), Google serves non-personalized ads; in those regions a Google-hosted consent message gives you the choice to consent or manage your options. You can control or block ad cookies at any time via your browser settings and Google's Ads Settings. Ad blockers remain effective.
You may clear cookies or disable local storage in your browser at any time; this may affect certain features, but the core Service remains usable.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Service, including granting access to Premium features you have purchased;
- Process and confirm your subscription and payment transactions;
- Store your learning progress so it can be restored on your device;
- Communicate with you about your account, billing, and important service changes;
- Improve, debug, and secure the Service;
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK)
If you are located in the EEA or the UK, we process personal data based on the following legal grounds: performance of a contract with you (providing the Service), our legitimate interests (operating and improving the Service, preventing fraud), legal obligation, and, where required, your consent.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share personal data only with service providers who help us operate the Service, including:
- Paddle (payments and subscription management);
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers, including Amazon Web Services, where your account data is stored;
- Google (advertising, through AdSense);
- Analytics providers, where used.
These providers process data only on our instructions and under confidentiality obligations. We may also disclose information where required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of users and others.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain records to comply with legal and tax obligations (for example, transaction records), to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and, where consent is the legal basis, withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International Transfers
Your personal data may be processed outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where transfers to other countries occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, as applicable.
